However, although it’s good to complete within this time frame, you should not put undue pressure on yourself to complete the course within that time frame. It’s important to ensure that you are making healthy progress and seeing improvement as you complete the steps, so take your time.[/text_block][/op_liveeditor_element]

[op_liveeditor_element data-style=””][text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_size=”16″]You need to be proactive about this, community does not simply happen. If we want to have and create community we need to be intentional about this and not simply wait for it to happen.
The best place to make initial connections is in the Guidestone University Private Facebook Group. The link is posted in each session and on your dashboard.
Be sure to introduce yourself, then post questions or thoughts there. Reach out to people, be intentional about building relationships.
E-mail people, find common ground, chat on Facebook and promote others work. Be generous to others as you would like them to be to you.
This applies to building relationships with other leaders and looking for opportunities for mutual growth – you need to take the initiative and reach out to them.
Build relationships naturally and don’t be afraid to ask.[/text_block][/op_liveeditor_element]

[op_liveeditor_element data-style=””][text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_size=”16″]This depends on how you work. Each module is divided up into several lessons. You can either go through more than one at a time, or you can do one per day.
However, it’s not ideal to do too many modules at once, as rushing through the course means you won’t get the best use of it. Don’t forget to take your time.
It’s probably best to go slower rather than rushing through it. And if this means not completing the course within eight weeks, so be it.[/text_block][/op_liveeditor_element]

The content systematically follows two models: SIMPLE Leadership Compass and SIMPLE Leadership Spiral – the 6 Phases of SIMPLE Leadership, so the early sessions form a foundation for subsequent sessions. From there, it’s a natural progression.[/text_block][/op_liveeditor_element]

However, we’ve found that those who experience the most dramatic improvement, print out the guides, follow them closely, and complete the worksheets.
How you use them is up to you. Looking for suggestions? Ask your fellow students in the Guidestone University Facebook Group.[/text_block][/op_liveeditor_element]

[op_liveeditor_element data-style=””][text_block style=”style_1.png” align=”left” font_size=”16″]This is something a lot of growing leaders struggle with. Because many of us don’t plan enough margin into our life and work.
You know your limits – you know what is too much for you. So you need to discern what is appropriate for you and then stick to that. What’s right for you may be different to others. Don’t worry about them – figure out what’s best for you and be content with that.
It’s important to set deadlines for projects and if necessary get accountability for it – it’s as simple as asking for it in the Guidestone University Facebook Group. If you do, you will plan your time more effectively and avoid procrastinating or making excuses for non-progress.
One other important factor here is knowing what to say yes and no to. In some ways it can be good to say yes to every opportunity you get, but if you do this there is a danger you can spread yourself too thinly and wear yourself out. So take time, and make a decision on what opportunities you need to say yes and no to.
Here are some questions to bear in mind when considering this:
-
-
- What opportunities will challenge and test you as a leader and push you to grow?
- Does the opportunity fit with your top priorities in your personal plan and vision? If not, it’s probably not worth pursuing.
- Is it going to drain you or is it going to energize you?
- Is it going to compromise commitments you already have made?
- Is your desire to take this opportunity out of need/desperation/obligation, or because you have a passion for the cause? If the former, then maybe it’s not right for you.
-
One final point about being overwhelmed. Ensure you get good rest. Lay down the laptop and invest in yourself, get energized and inspired.
Don’t get so wrapped up in growing that it becomes your whole life. Remember, it’s not life and death. The laptop, the project will still be there when you go back to it. And if you don’t meet the deadlines you’ve set yourself, no one will die. Finally, remember failure is never final. It’s just an opportunity to grow.
Just have some healthy perspective, plan, get good accountability, and ensure you have a balanced life.[/text_block][/op_liveeditor_element]
